KUALA LUMPUR, March 26: Malaysia is making significant strides in embracing artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance its national competitiveness and secure its position as a regional digital economy leader, said international ‘all-in-one’ collaboration platform provider Zoom Video Communications (Zoom).
Zoom’s Head of Asia, Lucas Lu, said in a statement today that the Malaysian government’s focus on AI as a ‘pivotal force for the nation’s future’ bodes well for continued national innovation and growth.
“In recognising AI’s transformative potential, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent call to the government, businesses and the rakyat to embrace AI for greater competitiveness is both timely and visionary,” he said.
“The announcement of plans to establish the first AI faculty at the University of Technology Malaysia, coupled with the ambition to bring the fastest AI supercomputers to our shores by mid-this year, is a bold step towards securing Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in AI,” Lu added.
At its end, Zoom is also leveraging AI to set higher standards for productivity and efficiency in teamwork. In a separate announcement today, the company announced the launch of the Zoom Workplace, an AI-powered collaboration platform, alongside expanded AI Companion features. The latter is a generative-AI digital assistant which helps users improve productivity and work together more effectively.
Zoom Workplace combines various tools into one platform, offering enhanced AI functionalities for Zoom Phone, Ask AI Companion, and a refreshed app interface. These upgrades aim to enrich customer experience, especially in Zoom Contact Center, enabling better customer relationships and AI-driven insights for live agent interactions.
Zoom’s AI enhancements, including Ask AI Companion, integrate seamlessly into users’ workflows, improving preparation and follow-up for meetings and calls. Features like smart scheduling in Team Chat and idea generation in Whiteboard with AI Companion, further aims to enhance workplace productivity and creativity.
Zoom Workplace also prioritises customisation and flexibility, introducing a new user interface with options for color themes and virtual meeting backgrounds. A dedicated Meetings tab facilitates ongoing collaboration, while new Zoom Rooms features and integrations with platforms like Workvivo enhance hybrid and onsite work environments.
Zoom’s business services also benefit from AI integration, with Zoom Contact Center incorporating AI Companion for improved customer service and marketing. Additional communication channels and seamless app integrations aim to streamline customer interactions and agent experiences.
