KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 – Police today shot a suspected robber and detained three others including two women following a robbery here today.
According to Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department Director, Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan, the shooting took place at 1pm at Jalan Berhala, Brickfields. Two teams from the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters and Sentul Police had been trailing the suspects in their car from 9am.
The suspects were said to have been visiting several banks around Sentul and Dang Wangi. One of them had also hijacked the car of a victim who was then taken to a petrol station in Cheras and the victim’s bag containing RM194,000 in cash was also snatched from here.
The police followed the suspects and stopped their car in Brickfields. The suspects are said to have put up a fight, and jammed into one of the police cars before the police fired two shots at the front screen of the car. The shots are said to have hit the driver’s right chest. Several more shots were also aimed at the car’s tyres.
Three others in the car have been detained by police. All three of them are believed to be foreigners.
