PUTRAJAYA, Sept 6 – The government is looking at ways to provide more flexibility and relaxation in the standard operating procedures so the people can be more free in the new norm as the country enters the Covid-19 endemic phase, says Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

He said he will be working with Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, in line with the mandate given to him by the special pandemic management taskforce headed by the prime minister, before the decisions are jointly made.

“There are many factors to be considered as this involves the issue of health and safety,” he said in a statement today.

The people’s lives, health, economy and wellbeing will be given main consideration before deciding on the flexibilities, relaxation on the SOPs, he added.

Among the areas being looked into are interstate travel and the opening of many more sectors.
