Malaysia reports 5 deaths from COVID-19, bringing total deaths to 1,370

PUTRAJAYA, April 17 – A total of five deaths from the COVID-19 infection were reported today, bringing the number of deaths due to the virus to 1,370.

The Ministry of Health via its Facebook livestream today said the number of new infections as of Saturday was 2,331 bringing total infections to 372,859 while recoveries was at 352,395. A total of 225 people meanwhile were still under intensive care and 92 people were on ventilators.

The ministry also said eight new clusters had been reported today involving four clusters from working premises, three from schools and one from community.

Earlier in his Twitter account, Director General of Health, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah called on people to remain cautious, saying that although the vaccines gave a glimmer of hope in the fight against COVID-19, all health measures and precautionary steps must continue to be taken to ensure the safety of everyone.
