KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 – Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who is part of the Malaysian delegation to China led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, paid a courtesy call to China’s Minister of Transport, Li Xiaopeng in Beijing today.

In a statement issued in his Facebook, Loke said he had last met Li in January 2019 when both of them were first-term transport ministers then.

“As spring is the season for renewal and growth, it is really delightful to meet each other again in person after the Covid pandemic.

“During our meeting, we discussed the strengthening of Malaysia-China ties in various aspects of transportation, including railway, port alliance, and aviation.”

Loke also said he had been invited by Li to the Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2023, which will be held in Beijing in September this year.

He added that he had also invited Li to visit Malaysia officially and looked forward to receiving him in Kuala Lumpur soon.

“As we look forward to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic ties next year, I am confident that our collective efforts to build stronger relationships will yield mutually beneficial outcomes for our countries and people.”
