King commends govt efforts in food security, check on essential goods’ prices

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 – Malaysia’s King, Sultan Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah today graced the opening of the 5th session of the 14th Parliament term, commending the various measures taken by the government to recover the economy, ensure food security for the people and a check on the prices of essential goods in the country.

In his royal address, His Majesty also spoke of the difficulties faced by the people towards late last year as severe floods struck the country, slowing down further the economic progress the country was making amid the easing Covid-19 pandemic. He commended the government for its financial assistance to help the people during the floods.

He said the pro-active measures taken by the government to attract foreign investments in the manufacturing and other sectors, amounting to billions of ringgit, and creating hundreds of job opportunities, was also helping in the recovery of the country’s economy and the people’s well being.
