Embassy invites application for Japanese studies scholarships

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 12 – The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarships for Japanese Studies and Teacher Training are now open for application until February 18 this year.

The Embassy of Japan here in a statement recently called on Malaysians wishing to pursue their studies in Japan to apply for the scholarships.

During the term of scholarship, monthly allowances of approximately 117,000 yen (approx RM4,400) will
be given to each Japanese Studies grantee, and 143,000 yen (approx RM5,400) to Teacher Training
grantee (amount is subject to change) while fees for entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at
universities will be exempted.

Successful candidates will be also provided with a round-trip airplane ticket.

For the Japanese Studies, which will be 1 year non-degree course from October 2022, applicants must be between 18 and 29 years of age as of 1st April 2022.

They must also be second or third year undergraduate students, majoring in Japanese language or Japanese culture enrolled in non-Japanese universities besides having a good command of the Japanese language.

For the Teacher Training Scholarship, applicants must be under 35 years of age as of 1st April 2022 and must be graduates of universities or teacher training college who work as teachers in primary or secondary schools or as academic staff at Teacher Training Institutions with at least 5-year experience in their terms of service.

Applicants must also have good command of English language and willing to learn Japanese language. Application for Teacher Training Scholarship (Government Schools) should be made to the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
