PUTRAJAYA, April 22 — The Attorney General (AG) must come clean and urgently issue a transparent update on the progress of the Durian Tunggal shooting investigation.
Minister of Digital, who is also National Chairman of the DAP, Gobind Singh Deo, said it has been five months since the incident took place but so far no definitive action has been taken against any individuals involved.
“The gravity of this case cannot be overstated. Serious allegations have been made, and evidence, including audio recordings, have been produced to support these claims,” he said in a statement issued today.
This is a matter of public interest, he said, and it is not unreasonable for calls for an explanation about the status of investigations in this case.
“The public have a right to know what actually happened and the families of the victims are entitled to answers and justice,” Gobind said.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) said that it had received a briefing from the Royal Malaysia Police, and is studying and examining the investigation papers submitted in detail to determine any appropriate further instructions.
“Any decision on prosecution would be made in accordance with the law and based on available evidence to ensure justice for all parties involved,” the statement said.
The incident, which occurred on Nov 24, 2025, involved three men aged between 24 and 29 who were shot dead after one of them allegedly attacked a police corporal with a machete at an oil palm plantation at around 4am.
A policeman in his early 30s sustained serious injuries to his left arm during the confrontation.
Previously, Inspector-General of Police Mohd Khalid Ismail said investigations into the case had been completed, with authorities awaiting a report from the relevant agency before taking further action.
