WASHINGTON, Sept 24 (Bernama-Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday voiced confidence that China and the United States (US), as two major countries, can find the right way to get along in the new era, reported Xinhua.
China and the US should work in the same direction, promote a stable relationship featuring cooperation as the mainstay, moderate competition, manageable differences, and promises of peace, Xi said in a written speech upon his arrival for a US state visit.
Xi said the historical logic and fundamental foundation of peaceful coexistence between China and the US have not changed, expressing confidence in the prospects for bilateral relations.
He said the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can go hand in hand and complement each other.
Xi said he looked forward to having in-depth exchanges with President Donald Trump on major issues concerning bilateral ties and the international situation, as well as enriching the constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability.
The Chinese leader also said he looked forward to engaging extensively with people from all walks of life in the US to deepen friendship and understanding between the two countries.
With joint efforts from both sides, Xi said, his visit to the US would be fruitful.
