KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) — The tragedy that claimed the lives of four family members at a condominium in Desa ParkCity, Kepong yesterday is believed to have stemmed from the suspect’s wife’s alleged involvement in a ‘love scam’.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the motive of the incident was uncovered after police found a note left by the suspect, the victim’s husband, on the dining table of the residence before he took his own life.
He said in the note, the 48-year-old man expressed regret over his wife’s alleged relationship with a scammer, which had left him with losses and debts amounting to RM260,000.
“The wife allegedly continued trying to contact the individual (scammer), and the suspect felt that her actions had gone too far and he felt ashamed in his children’s eyes,” he said in a statement today.
Fadil said police also found a knife and a pair of gloves believed to have been used in the killings inside a drawer in the unit’s master bedroom.
Regarding the post-mortem examinations at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), he said the procedure on the body of the nine-year-old girl was completed at noon today.
“After Friday prayers, the second post-mortem will be conducted on the body of the wife. Three post-mortem examinations are expected to be completed today.
“The post-mortem on the suspect (husband) is expected to be conducted tomorrow, after the HKL forensic team visits the scene tomorrow morning,” he said.
Yesterday, three family members were found dead with severe neck injuries at a condominium unit in Kepong after police received a report that a man was believed to have fallen from the residential building.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and the Sudden Death Report (SDR).
