Trump to Make Televised Address

WASHINGTON, July 14 (Bernama-dpa) — United States (US) President Donald Trump plans to address the nation in a televised speech on Thursday evening, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

The speech is scheduled for 9 pm (0100 GMT Friday), according to an announcement on his Truth Social account. This is one of the most important TV time slots in the US.

A president delivers a national address when he wants to make important announcements or when a significant moment has occurred for Americans. Trump did not name a topic.

It is therefore unclear whether he will address the Iran war, which has dominated headlines in the US for months, along with the accompanying hike in petrol prices. The conflict escalated again in recent days.

It will not be Trump’s first such address since he began his second term in January 2025. In December, amid mounting domestic pressure, he defended his economic record.

The speech comes some four months ahead of the key midterm elections, in which Trump’s Republican Party has been polling poorly.
