PUTRAJAYA, May 26 (Bernama) — Three pupils from the Community Development Department Preschool (TABIKA KEMAS) will represent Malaysia at an international robotics competition, the STEAMCUP Asia 2026 in Vietnam, this weekend, marking the preschool’s first participation in the championship abroad.
Gibran Abbas Syafiq Syazuan and Haura Mireille Muhamad Khairnaz from TABIKA KEMAS Taman Rambai Indah, Selangor, and Mikayla Humaira Mohd Hamza from TABIKA KEMAS Bunga Rafflesia, Putrajaya will compete in the championship, which would be held on Saturday and Sunday in Hanoi.
KEMAS Director-General Datuk Mohd Hanafiah Man in a statement today said their participation came in line with KEMAS Early Childhood Education Digital Transformation Plan 2023–2032, which complements the national education agenda through the Digital Education Policy.
“This effort strengthens KEMAS’ commitment to preparing children for a future learning ecosystem that is more digital, inclusive and competitive,” he said, adding that the pupils will be accompanied by two teachers and scheduled to depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport this Friday.
The competition, organised by the STEAMCUP Asia Organising Committee and STEAM Cup Vietnam 2026, will gather 201 participants from regional countries including Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Last year, TABIKA KEMAS sent 11 children to compete at the championship in Kuala Lumpur, with six emerging as champions while the remaining five secured second and third places.
