SHAH ALAM, April 30 (Bernama) — The Selangor state government has strongly condemned the attack, obstruction and detention by the Israeli Zionist regime against activists of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also the patron minister of the mission, said the repeated violations of international maritime law in intercepting vessels and abducting humanitarian activists near Crete, Greece, reflect the regime’s disregard for international law.
“This group has long demonstrated its intent to continue the genocide against the Palestinian people, whether through attacks, bombings or the blockade of humanitarian aid.
“This murderous pirate-like behaviour has also victimised populations in the West Asian region, including the people of Lebanon who have been displaced from their own land, as well as residents in Iran who have fallen victim to killings,” he said in a statement today.
Following this, he urged for condemnation and comprehensive efforts across all fronts to increase the pressure on Israeli Zionist regime from all parties.
“I will contact Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to ensure the safety of Malaysian activists who have fallen victim to the attacks and detention, and to secure their release,” he said.
Earlier, the Sumud Nusantara Command Center (SNCC) confirmed that six out of 22 vessels intercepted and raided by Israeli regime forces in international waters en route to Gaza involved 10 Malaysians.
GSF 2.0 brings together an international coalition from around the world, combining maritime efforts with global mobilisation on land, including legal advocacy and solidarity campaigns across various countries committed to breaking the blockade on Gaza.
Previously, the Selangor Menteri Besar’s Office said Amirudin was leading the mission on behalf of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to ensure the safe release of the humanitarian aid containers.
