Sanusi Lands In Court, Pleads Not Guilty To Charges Of Offence Against Selangor Royalty

KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 – Caretaker Menteri Besar of Kedah Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor pleaded not guilty at the Selayang Sessions Court here today to charges of sedition.

According to a report from the National News Agency, BERNAMA, Sanusi was charged with uttering seditious words regarding the appointment of Selangor’s Menteri Besar by the Sultan of Selangor during a political talk here last week.

Sanusi, who is also Perikatan Nasional’s election director, was charged under Section 4(1)(A) of the Sedition Act for having made statements that were insulting to the Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah during his speech in Gombak.

Judge Nor Rajiah Mat Zin set bail at RM5,000 and placed a gag order on the Jeneri State Assemblyman with regards to the case till it is over.
