Retired medical staff, doctors, nurses to be called to help speed up vaccination rate

KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 – Medical staff including pensioners, as well as volunteers and private sector doctors and nurses will be called to get involved in the country’s COVID-19 vaccination programme as part of efforts to achieve a high vaccinated population, said Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr. Adham Baba in his Twitter account today.

As of today, the COVID-19 situation in the country saw a total of 548,705 recoveries including today’s 7,386 recoveries.

New cases amounted to 6,239 with 6,228 cases being local and 11 imported, bringing the total number of infected to 633,891.

A total of 75 people also died overnight, bringing the number of fatalities from the virus to 3,611.

The number of people in intensive care units was at 905 with 453 of them assisted by breathing machines.
