PUTRAJAYA, May 5 (Bernama) — Leaders of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) today held a meeting lasting about an hour at the Sri Perdana Complex here.

The meeting, which began at about 5.15 pm, ended around 6.20 pm, focusing on current political issues, including the situation in Negeri Sembilan.

A source said discussions also touched on preparations for the Melaka and Johor state elections, as well as the 16th General Election (GE16).

The meeting was jointly chaired by the Prime Minister and PH chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the Deputy Prime Minister and BN chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Also present were DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, UMNO Information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and UMNO secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

Earlier, Asyraf Wajdi was reported as saying that the Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council was scheduled to meet to discuss various current issues, including the status of the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar post.

He said the meeting was important to deliberate on matters related to policies and positions among parties in the government, as well as issues involving the royal institution and customs in the state.

Political developments in Negeri Sembilan have drawn attention following the move by 14 UMNO state assemblymen (ADUN) who announced they had lost confidence in and withdrawn support for Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun following a crisis involving the state’s customary and constitutional institutions.
