One-third Malaysians taken 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine

PUTRAJAYA, July 20 – About one-third of the population in Malaysia – 10,097,841 – have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination as of Monday, July 19.

Announcing the figures in his Twitter page, Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr. Adham Baba said a total of 14,772,221 doses of Covid-19 vaccines had been administered as of Monday. This included the 424,936 doses provided on Monday.

A total of 4,674,380 Malaysians have also taken their second doses.

On July 16, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin announced the launch of the “Operation Surge Capacityā€¯ to ensure that every adult resident in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by August 1.

The move was part of efforts to ramp up vaccination in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, which have been reporting the highest number of the virus infection.
