CAREs wins appeal for 4 key documents in fight against flyover plan
THE Concerned and Affected REsidents Group (CAREs), which has been challenging a plan to build a flyover from Sunway to SS14, Subang Jaya, said it had achieved a significant milestone in its challenge on June 12. Although the flyover construction has been approved it said its appeal for 4 key documents, namely the TIA, RSA, Flyover Plans and KM approval has been successful under the Freedom Of Information (State of Selangor) Enactment 2011 Appeals Board.
The FOI has demonstrated the objective and spirit of the Enactment in demonstrating that public interest, accountability, and statutory transparency are the core pillars of local governance framework in Selangor, the group said in its Facebook posting.
“MBSJ has been ordered to hand over the required documents by 2nd July 2026. We will review them for a better understanding on the long-term impact to our SS14 neighbourhood and Subang Jaya as a whole.”
Selangor state government urged to protect remaining forest areas in Selangor
CONSERVATIONISTS in Selangor have urged the state government to protect the remaining forests and reduce the commercialisation of natural resources and development plans targetting forest areas such as Bukit Lagong.
In the recent wake of illegal homes set up by foreigners in the Hulu Langat area, about 36 km away from Bukit Lagong, the conservationists are also questioning the lack of supervision of these resource-rich areas, and the continued haphazard development in the state.
Poor planning and improper development that remove trees are known to bring about not only pollution and environmental issues but also floods and landslides, one environmentalist said.
