PETALING JAYA, April 15 (Bernama) — The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) today launched the Akademi Dalam Industri (ADI) Media Awards 2026 as a strategic initiative to recognise the media’s crucial role in advancing Malaysia’s productivity agenda and human capital development.

Organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI), MPC Deputy Director-General Dr Mohamad Norjayadi Tamam said the awards are designed to appreciate and honor the efforts made by media practitioners in raising public awareness of ADI – particularly in areas such as productivity, innovation and talent development.

“The awards not only recognise and celebrate excellence in producing high-impact content, but also encourage clear, accurate and data-driven reporting,” he said at the launch ceremony here today.

Dr Norjayadi added that MPI’s role as secretariat reflects the institute’s strong track record in journalism development, award management and its extensive network with the Malaysian media industry.

“MPI’s role is not only limited to coordination and competition management, but also involves monitoring the judging process, engaging panel jurors and ensuring that high journalistic standards are upheld throughout the event,” he said.

The ADI Media Awards feature three categories, namely Print/News Portal Media, TV/Radio/Online Video, and Social Media (Short Video). All media organisations can begin submitting entries from today onwards until the closing date on August 2, 2026.

Winners will be announced by MPC at a special ceremony on September 23. The full details, guidelines and submission forms are all available at www.adi.gov.my.

ADI is a national initiative focused on developing industry-ready talent through workplace training, skills certification and integrated academic pathways.

At the same event, MPC also unveiled the MPI-MPC Professional Diploma in Journalism under the ADI framework to equip media professionals with new skills in line with technological advancements in the industry while preserving core journalistic values.

The two six-month programmes are the Professional Diploma in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Journalism, which explores the use of AI in news writing; and the Professional Diploma in Cybersecurity Journalism, which focuses on cybersecurity to help journalists safeguard news sources and information.

Meanwhile, MPI Chief Executive Officer Dr Ainol Amriz Ismail said the curriculum is designed to help journalists utilise AI tools for information translation, data analysis, fake news detection and deepfake verification.

Strong emphasis is also placed on ethical AI usage and cybersecurity, including content misuse, data protection and organisational privacy, he said, adding that MPI is collaborating with the London Examinations Board and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Space for international certification.

The programme is expected to begin in July, 2026 with an initial intake of 40 participants.
