KTC GROUP to build Iskandar Heights, a high-rise technology park in Seri Iskandar, Perak

KUALA LUMPUR, April 22: KTC Group Sdn Bhd will tap into the current vibrant economic growth of Seri Iskandar, about 40 km southwest of Ipoh, and build a high-rise technology park known as Iskandar Heights, says the company’s chief project officer, Memphes Chong.

Iskandar Heights will cater for the needs of the growing township, which now has two university campuses, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS and the branch campus of Universiti Teknologi MARA, he said today.

The Seri Iskandar education hub is also home to four other training institutes — Kolej Profesional MARA, Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara, Institut Latihan KEMAS and Kolej Vokasional MARA.

Iskandar Heights, comprising two 20-storey high-rise blocks to be built on a 4.3-acre site, is poised to be an innovative technology hub with facilities for businesses and accommodation for students and knowledge workers.

“We have chosen to develop this technology park in Seri Iskandar because we want to tap into the technology potential of this township as it has the right ecosystem – the technology infrastructure and large pool of technology talents,” said Chong.

Location-wise, he said Seri Iskandar is well-placed to contribute towards the economic vibrancy of central Perak as it is just 17 km from the nearest KTM station at Batu Gajah, 20 km to enter and exit the West Coast Expressway, 38km from the PLUS Expressway and one km from the Ipoh-Lumut Highway.

“We have had many enquiries from investors, both local and foreign, who are keen to be in a new growth area where there is ample supply of knowledge workers and good transportation access,” he added.

To facilitate a robust tech ecosystem at Iskandar Heights, KTC Group signed several MoUs over the weekend with a number of companies for the purpose. They include Chargehere EV Solutions Sdn Bhd (EV charging), Freshtel Internet Sdn Bhd (high-speed wi-fi connectivity), Innolab IT Global (software development & IT solutions), BeLive Ventures Sdn Bhd (property management and renovations) and Taiwan’s Turn Cloud Technology Service Inc (IT services and cloud computing).

KTC Group also signed three MOUs to diversify into new areas – Guangzhou Xincheng New Materials Co. Ltd of China (prefabricated modular houses, office and hotels), EIR Wellness Group (wellness and healthcare services) and Global Agrobizs Group Sdn. Bhd. (agricultural technology).
