Honda to Recall 430 Motorcycle Units From May 25

PUTRAJAYA, May 13 (Bernama) — Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd will recall 430 units of Honda motorcycles, models CMX500A and CBR650RAC, starting May 25 following the detection of technical issues that could potentially affect vehicle safety.

Road Transport Department (RTD) director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, in a statement today, said the recall involves models identified as affected for inspection and corrective action on related components.

The recall involves 160 units of the CMX500A model for the 2023-2024 production year, which is related to handle lock screw loosening, while 270 units of the CBR650RAC model (2024-2025) are related to a short circuit in the wiring harness.

“All vehicle owners involved will be contacted by Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd for the process of coordinating their vehicle inspection slots.

“Vehicle owners are also allowed to walk into any nearby service centre nationwide,” he said.

He said any components identified as involved will be replaced at the cost borne by Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd.

“All vehicle owners of the involved models are requested to make plans to enable the recall and vehicle inspection process to be carried out as soon as possible,” he said.

Aedy Fadly said his party will monitor the implementation of this recall process and is committed to ensuring that all vehicle units involved will undergo inspection and be certified safe for use on the road.
