KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22: The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) recovered from the tragic plane crash in the Elmina township in Shah Alam will now be sent to Florida as the laboratory in Singapore was not able to complete the deciphering.

Speaking at a press conference here today, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the CVR will be sent to Florida, where the voice recorder was manufactured.

It is expected to be completed within 30 days, Loke told reporters after officiating the Malaysia Aviation Safety Seminar (M.A.S.S) 2023 earlier at a hotel here today.

Before officiating the event, the minister also took a moment to reflect on the Beechcraft 390 jet crash that took the lives of 10 people, comprising 8 people on board the plane and two motorists who were on the highway where the plane crashed.

He said a comprehensive investigation was underway to know the factors that led to the tragic accident.

He also thanked the global aviation authorities for their support in the aftermath of the tragedy.

On the aviation seminar today, entitled, “Promoting Unified Aviation Safety Across the Region”, Loke said it was aimed at creating a platform for industry experts, stakeholders and key players to engage in discussions via collaboration and the sharing of best practices towards fostering a safer aviation environment.

M.A.S.S, which is a collaborative effort from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and The Boeing Company, not only underscores Malaysia’s commitment as an ICAO Council Member but the country’s pledge to upholding the principles of civil aviation safety, innovation and sustainability, Loke said.
