KOTA BHARU, June 5 (Bernama) — Bank Rakyat has allocated almost RM3 million through the MADANI Community Outreach initiative nationwide this year to benefit over 1,000 beneficiaries to achieve a more comfortable life.
Its deputy chief executive officer (Operations), Nor Haimee Zakaria said the initiative includes BAITI (Rumahku) programme, Asnafpreneur programme, and Kebun Nuri Nutrisi to target groups including asnaf, converts, entrepreneurs and school students.
He said through the initiative, almost RM500,000 has been allocated to beneficiaries in Kelantan. Funds amounting to RM323,000 are for the construction of five houses including the provision of basic needs for beneficiaries around Kota Bharu, Kubang Kerian, Machang and Tanah Merah here.
“Of that amount, RM131,000 has been allocated for a project to improve the economy, through the cultivation of white oyster mushrooms, involving 10 asnaf entrepreneurs including converts, around Tumpat through the Asnafpreneur initiative implemented in collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kubang Kerian.
“The Asnafprenur programme can help improve the economic and social status of asnaf entrepreneurs and converts, to be carried out for six months, including training and guidance as well as inclusive monitoring from various aspects which also comprises the use of modern agricultural technology,” he told reporters after attending the MADANI Community Outreach Initiative handover ceremony here today.
Nor Haimee said through the allocation given in Kelantan, a total of 83 students of the Integrated Special Education Programme from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Chabang Empat, Tumpat also received benefits from the Kebun Nuri Nutrisi programme.
He said that through the programme, he was able to encourage the continuous acquisition of financial aid for the management of vegetable garden plants that can be harvested and sold, thus giving exposure to the development of practical agricultural and entrepreneurship skills.
“Since its implementation in 2020, a total of over 25,000 students from 31 educational institutions including primary and secondary schools, institutions of higher learning, and communities across the country have benefitted from the programme (Kebun Nuri Nutrisi).
“This MADANI Community Outreach initiative in Kelantan symbolises Bank Rakyat’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in implementing its role and mandate as a development financial institution to drive the economic and social development of communities in need,” he also said.
Nor Haimee added that this effort also goes hand in hand with creating a MADANI society that values the virtues of kindness as well as universal harmony and prosperity.
