KUALA LUMPUR, July 12: AEON CO. (M) Bhd says it has continued to strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability through its AEON MALL Eco Journey Campaign 2026 project.
Held across all 27 AEON malls nationwide over three months this year, the campaign brought together local communities, including government agencies, educational institutions and non-governmental organisations to support biodiversity conservation, environmental education and low-carbon living.
Through these collaborations, the campaign delivered initiatives that helped create greener public spaces, protect local ecosystems and encourage greater environmental awareness, AEON Co said in a recent statement. From tree planting and river conservation to recycling and environmental education, the campaign demonstrated how small, collective actions can make a meaningful difference.

Among the key initiatives was a tree planting programme at the AEON mall in Setiawangsa, conducted in collaboration with the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) and SMK Keramat Wangsa to enhance the mall’s green landscape and support biodiversity. The mall also hosted an Electric Vehicle (EV) gathering to promote greater awareness of low-carbon mobility and cleaner transportation.
Beyond urban greening, the campaign also supported biodiversity conservation through the INVAGUARD: Safe River Programme at Tebrau City AEON mall in Johor Bahru. In collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), the initiative removed 71 kilogrammes of invasive suckermouth catfish from Sungai Skudai, Kampung Pertanian, Kulai. The effort contributed to restoring the river ecosystem and protecting native aquatic biodiversity.
Environmental education and community participation were also key components of the campaign. At the Ayer Keroh AEON mall, collaborations with Gerakan Belia Bersatu Malaysia (GBBM) and SWM Environment encouraged students and local communities to take part in eco-friendly activities, including recycling initiatives that collected more than 3,000 plastic bottles, reinforcing the importance of responsible waste management.
The AEON MALL Eco Journey Campaign forms part of the retail giant’s broader sustainability efforts to create lasting environmental impact through collaboration, education and practical conservation initiatives. Building on the success of this year’s campaign, the company said it will continue to strengthen partnerships and expand sustainability initiatives across its mall network in the years ahead.
