KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) — The MADANI Government has launched the Digital Rakyat Portal, reaffirming its commitment to equipping Malaysians with the necessary competence to thrive in an AI-driven future.
In a statement today, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said that to realise Malaysia’s vision of becoming an AI Nation by 2030, the government must guarantee every citizen access to the skills and confidence required for the digital age.
He noted that pairing AI tools with structured learning creates a clear pathway for Malaysians, particularly the youth, to acquire practical AI expertise, embrace lifelong learning, and play an active role in the digital economy.
The Ministry of Digital also announced that the portal, developed in partnership with MyDIGITAL Corporation, is Malaysia’s central digital learning hub.
By consolidating multiple digital initiatives into a single account, it seeks to enhance user experience and equip Malaysians with the knowledge and tools essential for success in the digital economy.
According to the statement, the portal is driven by the 3A approach, namely Awareness, Access and Adoption.
Awareness builds a foundation in digital literacy and AI understanding through the Digital Literacy Hub; Access connects citizens to learning opportunities, future skills and recognised certifications via the Digital Skills Hub; and Adoption encourages practical application through the AI Builder Hub, Digital Tools Hub and capability assessment programmes.
This is a nationwide effort involving government, industry, the education sector, community groups and the public.
It aims to reach rural areas, the elderly, youth, persons with disabilities and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), ensuring no one is left out.
The statement noted that Malaysia’s journey towards becoming an AI Nation by 2030 is built on four key pillars: AI as a foundational technology, programmable digital data and assets, highly connected smart autonomous systems, and a technology-driven society.
To achieve this vision, particular focus is given to the two strategic thrusts of the Malaysia Digital Action Plan 2030 (MD2030).
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Digital announced that through the Global Learning Pass, the government is offering free three-month access to the leading online learning platform, Coursera, for 100,000 Malaysians.
The initiative will be rolled out in four cohorts, with the first one involving 25,000 participants beginning on Sept 16. Registration is now open via the portal at www.rakyatdigital.gov.my.
On July 28, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government will offer young Malaysians three months of free access to AI software and subscriptions, provided they complete the course modules on the Digital Rakyat platform.
