KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 (Bernama-Xinhua) — The majority of Malaysians believe that the ASEAN Summit 2025 will bring tangible benefits to the nation, according to a survey from the UCSI Poll Research Centre, reported Xinhua.
The research centre said in a statement on Thursday that younger Malaysians aged 18 to 34 are the most positive, with 66 per cent believing that the summit will lead to favourable trade agreements and better job opportunities.
The survey also showed that 61 per cent viewed the summit positively and 50 per cent believed that the decisions made at the summit would impact them.
However, only 38 per cent believed that ASEAN economic cooperation would reduce the daily cost of living.
On ASEAN’s priorities, 44 per cent listed the reduction in cost of living in the region as their top concern, followed closely by job creation at 41 per cent.
A coordinated effort to combat scams and crime was chosen by 9 per cent while climate change and environmental issues lagged at 1 per cent.
Malaysia recently hosted the 47th ASEAN Summit and its related meetings from Oct 26-28 in Kuala Lumpur.
