Swiss Moto3 Rider Dettwiler In Stable But Critical Condition In KL Hospital

BERLIN, Oct 27 (Bernama-dpa) – Swiss motorcycle rider Noah Dettwiler remains in critical condition in a Kuala Lumpur hospital after a crash ahead of the Malaysian Moto3 Grand Prix, his team CIP Green Power said on Monday, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

“Noah has undergone several surgeries in the last few hours, which went well. According to the doctors in charge, his condition is stable but still critical,” the team said on Instagram in a joint statement with his family and management.

“We appreciate your understanding and ask that Noah and his family’s privacy be respected. Thank you all for your incredible support and messages.”

Dettwiler, 20, was moving slowly on the Sepang circuit with a possible problem before the start of Sunday’s race and was hit in the back by Spanish world champion Jose Antonio Rueda, who was riding at high speed, according to TV footage.

Both riders were treated on site for 45 minutes before being taken to hospital by holicopter.

Dettwiler’s father, Andy Dettwiler, told Swiss paper Blick that he suffered several cardiac arrests and lost a lot of blood. His spleen and lungs were also affected, in addition to suffering an open fracture in his leg.

Moto GP said on X that Rueda was awake and alert, and suffered a suspected hand fracture and multiple contusions.

Rueda’s Red Bull KTM Ajo team wished Dettwiler well on Sunday, saying: “We want to send all our best wishes to Noah, his family, and all of CIP Green Power members. Get well soon, mate.”
