Snap a touristy picture with your phone and win RM15,000!

KUALA LUMPUR, May 23: If you are good at taking tourism-related pictures with your phone, you stand a chance to win RM15,000 from a new photo competition. Or RM25,000 may be yours if you’re excellent at taking videos.

For camera users, you stand to win RM25,000 in the photo category for the top prize and RM35,000 in the video category.

The competition, with a total prize pool of RM400,000, is open to all — Malaysians, foreign residents and international visitors.

Known as the Malaysia Photo Hunt 2025, it is organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) through Tourism Malaysia.

Deputy MOTAC minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said participants of the Malaysia Photo Hunt 2025 need to submit photos or videos online, along with copies of receipts as proof of travel activities, such as accommodation at registered and licensed premises, purchase of tickets to tourist attractions or booking of domestic transport tickets dated between Jan 1 and Aug 31, 2025.

“This competition is among the high-impact initiatives in intensifying the country’s tourism promotion efforts creatively and to encourage domestic and international visitors to promote the beauty of Malaysia through photos and videos on their social media channels,” he said in his speech at the launch read out by MOTAC Deputy Secretary-General (Culture) Datuk Mohd Yusri Mohd Yusoff here.

Tourism Malaysia Deputy Director-General (Promotion II) Lee Thai Hung told a press conference later that the competition would help expose and promote interesting destinations in the country to Malaysians and foreigners.

The competition brings together five well-known brands as strategic partners — Canon, Sony, Samsung, OPPO and Huawei.
