Shamsul Iskandar Announes Resignation As PM’s Senior Political Secretary

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 (Bernama) — Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin today announced his resignation as the Prime Minister’s senior political secreta

Shamsul said his resignation letter was submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this morning.

“I understand that there is an attempt to attack me with things that can damage the image of the MADANI government, hence I have decided to defend myself from this attack,” he said in a Facebook post today.

In the same post, Shamsul also thanked the prime minister for the trust he has placed in him.

Earlier, former Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli urged the prime minister to take action, including a possible investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), regarding a letter of support issued by one of his political secretaries.

Anwar explained that the letter of support was “vague” and did not constitute an instruction, besides stressing that the project approval process was not affected by the letter as the relevant authorities were fully aware of the standard procedures.
