
KUALA LUMPUR, April 28: The late Haji Shahrul Aman, Ikram chairman and former Bersih deputy chairman, was a man of high character and was greatly committed to sharing the values of Islam in the multireligious setting of the country, said Member of Parliament for Bangi, Syahredzan bin Johan.
Paying his tribute to Shahrul Aman, who passed away today following a battle with cancer, Syahredzan said his friendship with him went a long way, from the time he was an activist to entering politics.
“We were in synch in many ways in our common desire to improve the country even when our paths differed,” he said in statement issued today.
He was soft spoken, had high moral and ethical values and was highly committed to sharing the values of Islam withing a multiracial community.
He also always sought and held discussions with non Muslim individuals and organisations towards mutually beneficial achievements for the good of the country.
Many also knew him when he was a leader in Bersih, where he was among those who had advocated for civil and political rights in the country including fair and clean elections.
