School Stabbing Motive May Have Been Infatuation – Police

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar urged the public to refrain from further sharing the note, as well as images of the victim and suspect, noting that both are minors and the case is still under active investigation. In a case that has shocked the entire nation, a 14-year-old boy was found to have stabbed his 16-year-old schoolmate to death at a secondary school in Petaling Jaya, yesterday.

SHAH ALAM, Oct 15 (Bernama) – A 14-year-old boy who stabbed his 16-year-old schoolmate to death at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, yesterday, is believed to have had a secret infatuation with the victim, said Selangor police chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar.

He said the suspect was allegedly a ‘secret admirer’ of the victim. Both students were from the Remove Class, with the suspect in Form 1 and the victim in Form 3.

“Our investigation so far has found that the suspect had feelings for the victim, but did not share them… it was more a case of harbouring those feelings. It is also believed that the victim was unaware of the suspect’s feelings,” he said during a press conference today.

Shazeli said it was also found that the suspect and victim had no prior relationship or interaction.

“Emotional factors and social media influence are believed to have contributed to the suspect’s actions,” he said.

When asked if the suspect had mental health issues, Shazeli said that, for the time being, they have not been able to confirm his mental state.

“We will need to consult psychiatrists on that matter. What we can say for certain is that the suspect’s emotional state was likely unstable at the time of the incident,” he added.

Regarding the discovery of a written note stating “Dunia ni palsu. Saya sudah menang” (This world is fake. I have won), which went viral on social media, Shazeli confirmed the matter.

“Yes, I can confirm that the police did find this note. It was seized from the suspect when he was apprehended,” he said.

He also urged the public to refrain from further sharing the note, as well as images of the victim and suspect, noting that both are minors and the case is still under active investigation.

“The police are treating this incident with the utmost seriousness and call on all parties, including the school and the community, to work together in ensuring the safety and well-being of students,” he said.
