Remand Extended For Facilitator Accused Of Molesting Four Schoolboys

BALIK PULAU, Oct 22 (Bernama) — A facilitator previously detained for allegedly molesting four schoolboys during a motivational camp in Kampung Genting has had his remand extended by three days from today.

Barat Daya district police chief ACP Sazalee Adam said the initial seven-day remand order for the 33-year-old man ended today, with an extension sought to complete the investigation papers.

“Remand for the man has been extended by three days, effective today until Oct 25, and the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” he said in a statement today.

The media had earlier reported that the man was arrested at his home in Sungai Petani, Kedah, after police received a report from the headmaster of the Year Six pupils. The incident allegedly occurred on Oct 12 during a motivational programme at a camp involving a primary school from Kerian, Perak.

The four boys claimed they were asleep in the male students’ dormitory when the suspect allegedly touched parts of their bodies.

Investigations revealed that the man, who was a guest facilitator at the camp, was only reported to the headmaster by the victims after they returned from the camp.
