PM Officiates Opening of Hameediyah Restaurant’s 6th branch at Semua House in KL

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today officiated the opening of the Hameediyah Restaurant at Semua House mall here, the sixth branch of the country’s oldest nasi kandar chain.

He arrived at about 2.30 pm and was welcomed by the restaurant’s seventh-generation owner, Ahamed Seeni Pakir Abdul Shukur, along with the Hameediyah staff.

The Prime Minister later spent about 30 minutes mingling with patrons and enjoying his meal at the outlet, which began operations last November.

Founded in Penang in 1907, Hameediyah Restaurant was recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records in 2020 as the country’s oldest nasi kandar restaurant.

In a statement, the management said it plans to expand further by opening more outlets nationwide in the coming years.
