(Updated) PM announces a revamped Cabinet line-up

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today announced a new Cabinet line-up, with many ministers from the previous administration either retaining their post or swapping their portfolio, and several new names.

Former Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, among other Ministers, retained his previous post and made a Senior Minister while Khairi Jamaluddin will now take up the post of Health Minister held by Datuk Dr Adham Baba previously. Dr Adham will now handle Khairi’s previous portfolio – Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Ismail Sabri, who made the announcement following an audience with the King, Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Wednesday for approval of the Cabinet list, also did not name any Deputy Prime Minister.

During his announcement, aired live over television stations and Facebook, Ismail Sabri also did not mention any ministry or a minister for environment and water in his administration.

He said the line up was aimed at gathering ministers capable of helping Malaysia out of the Covid-19 situation and preparing towards living with the presence of the virus, as well as recovering the country’s economy.

The other three senior ministers are Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (Defence), Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof (Works), Datuk Seri Radzi Jidin (Education).

Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz was re-appointed Finance Minister.
