Parliament: MPs pass mini Budget for immediate government expenses, civil servants’ salaries

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 – A Mini Budget proposed by Prime Minister and also Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, involving a total of RM107,718,676,650, was passed in the Dewan Rakyat today.

The MPs had passed a provision tabled by Anwar under the Consolidated Fund (Expenditure Into Account) Act 2022, to come into force on Jan 1, 2023, to facilitate the government’s immediate expenditure including the emoluments for civil servants.

The Budget 2023 in full, which was prepared by the previous government led by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has not been approved or debated in the Dewan Rakyat following the dissolution of Parliament on Oct 10.
