PUTRAJAYA, Aug 31 (Bernama) — More than 100,000 visitors thronged Dataran Putrajaya today for the National Day 2025 celebration, which ran smoothly in a festive atmosphere, said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Fahmi, who is also chairman of the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 (HKHM 2025) Main Organising Committee, said the celebration also featured 14,062 participants who took part in the parade and march past.
“Alhamdulillah, I was informed that the attendance figure, based on data obtained from Putrajaya Corporation (PPj), was more than 100,000,” he told reporters after the celebration, themed ‘Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni’.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah graced the celebration. Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the two deputy prime ministers, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Cabinet ministers and foreign dignitaries.
Fahmi said this year’s National Day performances also received praise from the Prime Minister, particularly the human graphic formation by 2,000 school students, which the latter described as the best in history.
“The Prime Minister greeted the human graphic team, which comprised more than 2,000 students from various schools who had trained for over two months for today’s event. And he told them that this was the best human graphic performance he had ever witnessed,” he said.
Fahmi also invited the public to visit the RiUH Merdeka programme, which runs for 30 hours from noon yesterday until 6 pm today in Putrajaya on the sidelines of the National Day celebration.
“They can go to the Millennium Monument area, where the RiUH Merdeka programme is taking place until 6 pm today, featuring various performances, food, drinks and sales of local products,” he said.
Praising the public’s enthusiasm in witnessing the celebration at Dataran Putrajaya, Fahmi said various facilities had been improved, including providing more tiered seating to ensure visitor comfort.
“We found that some had camped here since yesterday evening, around 5 pm, while others came at night and early this morning,” he said.
On media personnel, Fahmi said the organisers would review the positioning of photographers to ensure better coverage at future National Day celebrations.
He said the move was in response to feedback, especially from photographers who hoped for more strategic positions to capture the best shots throughout the event.
“Insya-Allah, we will arrange more strategic positioning for photographers in the future,” he said, while also expressing pride and happiness that the celebration went according to plan.
