PETALING JAYA, Aug 3 – Otai Reformis has expressed regret over the way Sg Pelek Assemblyman Ronnie Liu was “treated” at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

In a statement issued today, Otai Reformis Secretary Abdul Razak Ismail said an accusation was hurled at Ronnie Liu during the state assembly by the Menteri Besar of Selangor Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari that the former had been financing “his friends” to raise questions on several issues, namely the Shah Alam stadium repair cost and the ongoing tussle with local communities on the Bukit Cerakah forest reserve.

Referring to the live telecast of the Selangor State Assembly, Abdul Razak said the allegation against Ronnie Liu was baseless and was made only because he had asked questions on the high cost of renovating the Shah Alam Stadium.

“It was also uncalled for Selangor Exco member Teng Chang Khim to advise the Speaker to use a house regulation to oust Ronnie Liu from the assembly.

“It was also unfair for the Speaker to reprimand the assemblyman, when all he did was to question the cost of RM787 million for the repair of the stadium.”

An assemblyman from the ruling party should be able to raise objections and not sit quietly for every decision taken by the statement, he said.

“Ronnie Liu is the treasurer for Otai Reformis and hence we are upset for the shoddy treatment given to him.”

Meanwhile, on the subject of Bukit Cherakah, he said people living in the Shah Alam forest area may have started action for a judicial review of the degazettement of some parts of the forest reserve.
