ALOR SETAR, Nov 27: The Kedah State Education Department (JPN) has expelled a group of four students involved in a fight at a school in the state recently.
A Form Four male student was found unconscious in a school dormitory toilet, believed to have been beaten by a group of students on Monday.
The Kedah JPN said in a statement that it viewed the incident as a serious violation and that action had also been taken by the authorities in the case.
“The school has also completed a thorough internal investigation. The strict punishment of suspension and expulsion from school has been imposed against the students.
“The Kedah JPN stresses that there is no compromise on the issue of bullying, violence and student misconduct,” the statement said.
It added that all educational institutions in the state were requested to comply with the current disciplinary management procedures, prioritise student safety and implement preventive intervention to ensure that the well-being of all educational staff is preserved.
Meanwhile, Kuala Muda police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said four male students aged 16 and 17 were arrested, with a 16-year-old remanded for three days from today to assist in the investigation.
