KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 – The Public Accounts Committee will be calling in several more witnesses from three agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department on April 21, after it began proceedings into the MySejahtera development and procurement today.
Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today provided their clarification before the PAC, with the proceedings taking about about three hours after starting at 10 in the morning.
In a statement issued today, PAC Chairman Wong Kah Woh said the committee took the view that more witnesses would have to be called in to provide further details in the proceedings.
PAC will be calling the National Security Council (NSC), Malaysian Administration Modernisation and Planning Unit (MAMPU) and the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) to give their explanation on the matter.
Also present at the proceedings were Secretary General of Treasury, Datuk Seri Asri Hamidon and Secretary General of Health Ministry, Datuk Harjeet Singh and senior officers from both the ministries.
The proceedings today sought clarification on the provision of MySejahtera application development contract to KPI Soft Sdn Bhd in April 2020, the offer of contract through direct negotiation to MySJ Sdn Bhd by the Government in November November 2021 as well as the status of the negotiations between the government and the said companies.
The committee also sought information on the ownership of the MySejahtera application including its application module, source code, intellectual property and database, and the government’s commitment to protect the private data of MySejahtera users.
The proceedings today also focused on a court case involving share dispute between the companies involved in the MySejahtera application, namely MySJ Sdn Bhd, KPI Soft Sdn Bhd and other entities.
The controversy surrounding the MySejahtera application includes the direct sale of the application, developed as a health tool during the Covid-19 pandemic, to a private company and the consequent implication to the confidentiality of the personal data of the people stored under the app.
