PUTRAJAYA, Nov 25 (Bernama) — The Ministry of Education (MOE) is investigating claims regarding the sale of purportedly leaked Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination papers.

Education director-general Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad said that although no official report had been presented, the ministry is aware of such allegations that have gone viral on social media over the past few days.

“This is under the action of the Examination Syndicate, and I am certain they have procedures,” he told a media conference after visiting Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Putrajaya Presint 11 (1) here today.

Previously, several screenshots had gone viral, with several parties offering to sell allegedly leaked SPM questions for as low as RM499 per subject, and some even guaranteeing a refund if they do not achieve outstanding results.

Mohd Azam also gave an assurance that the SPM examination papers are properly safeguarded, with all examination security procedures complied with, including in the flood-hit states.

“We have begun taking action and even thought about where to keep the question papers. At the very least, we might keep them in police lockups,” he said.

A total of 413,372 candidates are sitting for SPM 2025, comprising students from government schools, government-aided schools, government-aided religious schools, Mara Junior Science Colleges (MRSM), the Royal Military College, state religious secondary schools, private schools registered with the MOE, sekolah menengah agama rakyat and private candidates.

The SPM examination begins today with the Bahasa Melayu Paper 1 at 8.15 am, followed by the Visual Arts Education (Paper 1 Art Theory) at 11.45 am and Bahasa Melayu Paper 2 at 2.30 pm.
