KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7: The Scouts Association of Malaysia (PPM) hopes to do more to help in character and leadership building among youths in the country, says National Chief Scout Maj Gen Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Zin Bidin.

Scouting as an informal educational platform has proven to build discipline, leadership, character, and patriotism for over 117 years, said Mohd Zin, who was recently elected as Chair of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee for the 2025–2028 term.

Globally, scouting is also part of a worldwide youth network with over 60 million members in 174 countries. In Malaysia alone, the scouting movement has about 600,000 members.

“PPM is currently focused on several initiatives, including 21st century leadership training, creative and responsive youth empowerment programmes, talent enhancement in technology and environment, along with improving the integrity of governance and networking with the government, industry and media,” he said at PPM’s dinner with media organisations here on Saturday.
