(Updated, adding “not” procedural in graf 9)
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1: Lee Pei Rie, the wife of Albert Tei who is currently under remand in relation to investigations into the Sabah mining scandal, has demanded the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) issue a full and signed inventory of the items confiscated from the couple’s home when the agency raided their house in Puchong on Friday, Nov 28, 2025.
In a letter to MACC, issued through her lawyers Rajesh Nagarajan and Sachpreetraj Singh Sohanpal, she has also made several other demands to be met in three days time, failing which she will file for a judicial review against the MACC.
Lee said, the officers had forced their way into the house, and there was a moment of high tension and deep fear when allegedly one of the officers pointed a gun at her.
She also sought clarification from the MACC on whether she is a suspect in their investigation.
According to Lee, several items including a CCTV decoder were confiscated, while the contents of her phone and that of the family members were also erased.
In the statement, the lawyers also said that have been no documentation of the items confiscated despite the family’s attempts to get a list of the items from the MACC office.
The officers have failed to produce a written record of the items confiscated and this is clearly against regulations, they said, adding that this could amount to stealing rather than a confiscation.
Under Section 31 of the Anti-Corruption Commission Malaysia Act 2009, it is mandatory to provide a list of the confiscated items.
Section 31(1), (3) dan (4) of the Act, the officers must prepare a full list of the items confiscated, have it signed and a copy of it must be provided immediately when an affected party seeks it. This is mandatory and not procedural.
When an item is removed from a premise, the MACC must also account for where it has been relocated, on whose custody it is and the reason for continuing to keep the items.
Lee has also sought for the immediate return of items that are not related to the investigation.
