King, Queen leave for UK visit

SUBANG, Oct 9 – Malaysia’s King, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah and the Queen, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah left for London late this evening for a special visit from Monday, Oct 10 till Oct 16.

A posting on the Istana Negara Facebook said His Majesty’s children Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah, Tengku Puteri Ilyana and Tengku Puteri Jihan Azizah were also on the visit.

A special aircraft carrying the royal family took off from the Royal Malaysian Air Force Base here at around 9.30 pm.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar and the Deputy Chief Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Sollehuddin Alyubi Zakaria were present at the airport to bid His Majesty a safe journey.

Sultan Abdullah has been scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to Britain’s King Charles III at the Buckingham Palace, in London on Oct 12.

His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah at the national-level Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad SAW birthday) celebration held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, Oct 9.

On the same day, His Majesty will be also grace the official launch of the Battersea Power Station, an iconic Malaysian investment project in London.

The New Straits Times on Sunday evening reported that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had sought an audience with the King earlier Sunday afternoon to get His Majesty’s consent for the dissolution of Parliament.

Quoting a source, it said the dissolution of Parliament could be as early as Monday.
