It’s total lockdown, only 2 in a vehicle and more restrictions

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 – Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Sabri Ismail and Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah laid out the terms that will help flatten the COVID-19 infection spread at a joint press conference here today.

Dr Noor, said the statistics on infections and clusters were accurate and that based on projections, cases could go up to 13,000 by June if measures taken to cut down the virus spread are not followed.

He said the combination of public health measures and vaccination will be able to flatten the curve in the next few months.

Effective June 1, under the tighter MCO.3, it is back to only allowing two people in a vehicle, Sabri Ismail said.

“In the first MCO, we only allowed two to go out and then we relaxed to three. Now it is back to two. Going out will also be allowed only for purchasing essential items and food,” said Sabri Ismail.

Selected sectors such as food, health, utilities and transport will be allowed to operate while all shopping centres will be closed.

Interstate and inter-district will see tighter enforcement also, he said.

To a question on instances of interstate travel that have contributed to the rise in COVID-19 cases while the MCO was on, he said there could have been an abuse in the use of letters for interstate travel.
