GAZA, Nov 7, (Bernama-Anadolu) — Israeli airstrikes destroyed the Cultural and Free Thought Association building in the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis, which had served as a centre for children’s educational and social activities for years.
The building, targeted by the Israeli military, had long hosted artistic, cultural and educational projects for children in the area.
Before the war, the association provided thousands of children with educational support, psychosocial rehabilitation and art programmes, making it one of Gaza’s leading civil society organisations.
The Gaza ceasefire deal was reached between Israel and Hamas in early October, based on a plan presented by United States President Donald Trump.
Phase one included the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
The plan also envisions the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.
Since Oct 2023, Israeli attacks have killed nearly 69,000 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them women and children, and rendered it largely uninhabitable.
