PUTRAJAYA, June 6 – The government is looking at implementing Parliament sittings in a hybrid manner involving the participation of Members of Parliament both physically and virtually.

In a statement issued on his Facebook today, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the government will be studying the concept and the mechanisms that will be involved in the execution of the hybrid meetings.

“This step is taken to ensure that Parliament will be able to play as appropriate even though the country is still facing the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the recovery program is still ongoing at all levels”

The minister, who is in charge of Parliamentary affairs, said he had a meeting with the speakers and deputy speakers of both Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara today on the mechanisms involved in executing the hybrid sittings.
