BEIJING, Feb 2 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) — The Xiamen Intermediate People’s Court in the Chinese province of Fujian sentenced former Justice Minister Tang Yijun to life imprisonment on Monday for taking more than 137 million yuan (US$19.7 million) in bribes, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported, citing the Supreme People’s Court.
“The Xiamen Intermediate People’s Court, Fujian Province, on February 2, 2026, announced the verdict in the bribery case against Tang Yijun, the former Chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, sentencing him to life imprisonment for bribery and stripping him of political rights,” the court said in a statement.
The court said that all his personal property would be confiscated.
Tang was found to have abused his office to the benefit of third parties and organisations while serving as the governor of Liaoning province and as justice minister between 2006 and 2022. He assisted with company stock listings, land acquisitions, and bank loans in exchange for bribes, the court said.
