NILAI: Enforcement, Leadership and Management University (ELMU), Malaysia’s premier law enforcement educational institution, is offering new pathways to higher education through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).
ELMU’s Chief Executive and Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Kassim Noor Mohamed in a statement today said, this initiative allows experienced officers and law enforcement professionals to fast-track their real-world expertise into academic qualifications, from diplomas to postgraduate degrees.
“As an institution dedicated to advancing law enforcement, ELMU believes that knowledge gained in the field is just as valuable as classroom learning. Through APEL, officers can receive formal academic credit for the skills, training, and leadership they’ve acquired on the front lines. Law enforcement professionals bring with them years of hands-on experience, from investigations to crisis and disaster management,” he said.
Dr. Kassim said, with APEL, the university is acknowledging that experience, and giving it the
recognition it deserves.
“We’re helping our law enforcers rise faster through the ranks, and strengthening leadership within our enforcement agencies. ELMU is offering APEL. A (Access) across its 11 flagship programmes in Law Enforcement. Whether you’re a senior officer looking to upgrade your credentials or a young cadet with years of working experience, APEL provides a flexible, efficient route to academic success,” he said.
On another note, Dr. Kassim said 16 of ELMU’s academic staff had just been accredited as Certified Assessors for APEL. A after completing their training on March 20th, held in collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s APEL Centre.
