Updated: Date to reconvene Parliament to be decided on July 7 Cabinet meeting

PUTRAJAYA, July 2 – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the government has decided to call the Malaysian Parliament as soon as possible before August 1.

This will be finalised in the Cabinet Ministers meeting scheduled on July 7, he said in a statement on his Facebook today.

Takiyuddin said the Federal Government has always upheld the view of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in all matters related to the state ruling including in relation to the Parliamentary session.

“In conjunction with that the Prime Minister as the Chief of the Parliament has decided to call the Malaysian Parliament as soon as possible before August 1, 2021.”

In another statement today, Chairman of the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Wong Kah Woh said the PAC has been scheduled to meet on July 26 this year.

Wong, who is Member Parliament for Ipoh Timur (DAP), said this will be in keeping with the Agong’s decree on June 28 that all Select Parliament Committees carry out their functions of check and balance of the government.

Wong said he has sent a letter to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun notifying him of the meeting.
