CEO of Edotco, Adlan Tajudin

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 – Leading telecommunications infrastructure services company Edotco has welcomed the government’s move to accelerate the implementation of the JENDELA (Jalinan Digital Negara) project as a national effort to improve internet network facilities in the country, and allocating RM725 million to implement digital connectivity in 47 industrial areas and nearly 3,700 schools.

In a statement here, commenting on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s tabling of the Budget 2023 at Parliament today, Chief Executive Officer of Edotco Group, Adlan Tajudin said the company, as proud partner of the JENDELA initiative, was ever ready to drive and support the evolution of Malaysia’s telecommunications sector.

These will include amplifying digital transformation efforts across businesses, society and the government, paving the way for a better Malaysia for all Malaysians, Adlan said.

“This allocation is a testament to Malaysia’s promising future digital economy, driving EDOTCO closer to our goal of connecting the unconnected and bridging the digital divide, especially for disadvantaged and vulnerable communities.

“Connectivity has become a necessity and 5G technology promises to revolutionize the way we communicate and connect with each other.”

Adlan said the government’s target to reach 80 percent 5G coverage at a reasonable price for the people, ensuring no one is left behind by end of 2023, was commendable for Malaysia to advance towards the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030.

“With the current Budget’s focus on delivering faster, cheaper and better connectivity nationwide, particularly in rural areas, all stakeholders in the industry need to come together to drive the nation’s agenda. We believe that it is an important roadmap that will accelerate Malaysia’s pandemic recovery journey and ensure that the country is well-prepared to tackle the global inflation and other future challenges.”
